Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel

Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel - $20.40 USD

I constantly get asked to recommend a facial moisturizer.  Truth be told with so many out on the market,  its seems like an endless list of options and who knows what really works.  However when it comes to Paula's Choice products I for sure put my money where my mouth is (and my credit card has the charges to prove it!).

Back in October I was looking for a light weight moisturizer that would leave my face feeling soft, silky smooth and moisturized but without that heavy weight greasy feel.  I bought this on a straight up whim to honest because it stated that it was a gel like texture with a matte finish.  I figured hell why not!

What I love about this moisturizer is the way it feels. I apply it last (before my sunscreen) and it really feels like you have nothing on but it actually leaves your face feeling hydrated.  I don't really like greasy creams and since I use Argan Oil and Passion fruit Oil (Maracuja oil) on my face, a heavy cream would not be a good idea.  I try to be careful with products that can cause breakouts or clog pores and give you a dull looking complexion.  This moisture gel is just amazing!  Moreover, it has no fragrance, dyes, alochol or perfume in it as that has no business in skincare products.  So for those like me who are very picky about hat we put on our face, this product will for sure fit your need and the bill!

Right now Paula's Choice is having 15% off anything you buy from their site plus free shipping over $50.  However if that doesn't do it for you then try this!  Since I shop so much at Paula's Choice, I have a "refer a friend" link which will give you $10 bucks off your first order over $15.00.  Click here and shop through the link to get your $10 credit.  Plus you will also get 15% off and the free shipping (if over $50 bucks).

So basically the mositure gel should come out to about $12.00 with shipping, taxes and all (depending on where you live)!

Keep Smiling!

Belitae Organics Fresh-C Vitamin C Serum

Belitae Organics Fresh-C Vitamin C Serum - $16.95 US

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I am a lover of Vitamin C hands down.  Ever since I heard of topical Vitamin C for the face, I have never looked back.  I wrote a review about Vitamin C for my blog a few months back.  Click here if you want to learn more about the benefits of Vitamin C.

Recently Valentia Skincare contacted Everything Beauty and Beyond to review their Even Glow Serum. - See more at: http://everythingbeautyandbeyond.blogspot.ca/2014/05/review-of-week-valentia-even-glow-serum.html#sthash.KkN1JvLD.dpuf
Recently, Belitae contacted Everything Beauty and Beyond to review their Belitae Organics Fresh-C Vitamin C Serum.  I have to say, one of the things that caught my eye about this serum was the packaging.  I know that may sound dumb, but still, packaging is what first sells right?! Before we start looking at ingredients!  Come on, you know what I am talking about!!

Since I use Vitamin C throughout the year, I like to try out a few in order to see what works and what doesn't.  When I received this Vitamin C the package was a lovely white and bright yellow with a ton of information on the back. Their Amazon site states:

"Belitae's FRESH-C Vitamin C Serum is formulated with the proven highly active form of Vit C called "STAY C-50". This Vitamin C goes to work deep in the layers of your skin where it is converted to Ascorbic Acid by your cells providing the added benefit of remaining fresh in the bottle until absorbed by your skin.  Our Vitamin C is proven to stimulate collagen production restoring your skin to a more youthful appearance. Vitamin C is known for it's ability to protect your skin from daily UV damage and will gradually fade sun spots and brighten skin. Made in the USA in our advanced FDA certified facility 98% natural and 72% organic ingredients - cruelty free, phalate free, paraben free, gluten free".

The directions state that after washing your face use 2-3 drops on both your face and neck.  Then after it absorbs into your skin, apply your moisturizer.  Pretty simple and basically the same directions as all the other Vitamin C that I tired.

First thing I noticed about this Vitamin C is that it came in a dark blue bottle (which was a first for me) with a droplet.  The liquid was crystal clear and had no smell.  I found it interesting that it stated that it would never oxidize because normally Vitamin C is an antioxidant and that is just what happens anywhere between 3-6 months from when you open it.   Nonetheless, I have only had this bottle for a month, so I guess I will wait and see.

I started using it everyday for two weeks.  Since I normally use Vitamin C from other manufacturers, I simply swapped this out for my normal one.  The results I achieved with this Vitamin C were great! It continued to help with lightening up any and all dark spots.  My complexion looked bright and my premature wrinkles were kept at bay.  It felt very silky and smooth and absorbs rather quickly into the skin without any nasty film or stickiness.  I really like this Vitamin C and the feel of its formula.

However I will say this.  The ONLY thing that I didn't like about this product is that it contains Witch Hazel.  Which in my own personal (amature) opinion is not an ingredient I would use.  I refuse to use or even apply a product anywhere on body that contains alochol or Witch Hazel.  However for the sake of testing I gave it a chance.  While the rest of the ingredients are great, however there should never be any real reason why a product should have alochol or Witch Hazel in it.  These two ingredients cause collagen breakdown in the face.  I would really employ the company to remove this product and use another product that is not damaging to the skin if their are looking to add antibacterial  properties for acne pron skin or to help reduce redness and control oil.  However with all that being said, this ingredient was much lower on the list so the amount of witch hazel used might be minimal to produce any real damaging affect.  Nonetheless you would have to contact the company in order to find this information out.

Beside that, I did find this product very helpful! However a lot of people are ok with using Witch Hazel in their normal skincare routine which is fine for them.  So if that is use, then you would be happy to know that Belitae is doing a free giveaway to one lucky person who would like to receive this product for free!  So below are the rules for the giveaway!

For everyone else, the company is offering a 25% off their bottle of Vitamin C.  In order to get this deal, simply click here on Belitae Organics Fresh-C Vitamin C Serum and add it to your cart.  When checking out, it will ask you how do you want to pay.  Scroll down and click on Amazon's promotion code link and type in the code 3TJ5W9NE to receive 25% off the price.  So that means your cost for this bottle will only be  $12.71 (minus shipping and taxes)! I don't know how long this promotion is on for as this bottle normal cost $68.00, so get it while its hot!

One final note.  When using Vitamin C; though it works great to protect you against sun and free radical cell damage, you MUST wear sunscreen everyday.  Vitamin C makes you skin very sensitive to sun rays. So make sure you are using an SPF 30 and up that is UVA/UVB Board Spectrum protection.  If not, then you will eventually get a "lovely" red sunburn effect look which for sure will hurt.  So keep this mind when using ANY Vitamin C.

Review of The Week: Baby Foot!

Baby Foot - $25.00 US

So every now and then you hear about a product that is just way to good to be true.  So what do you do?  You go ahead and buy it of course!! I mean you can't be a beauty skeptic without trying it right!?

I currently read a blog called "Cheap as F*&k" where this really funny girl write about beauty products in the most honest way.  On one of her reviews she briefly mentioned this product called "Baby Foot" which supposedly makes your feet as soft as a "baby's foot"!  It was a passing statement in conjunction with a different product she was reviewing.

Now I come from the USA (NYC) and during the winter its cold as ass! There is no way to get around that.  However I now currently live in Canada (Toronto) where last winter it was Antarctic weather.  The last time it was this cold was back in 2002 when the gas in cars were literally freezing it was so damn cold.  Nonetheless this winter not only did my skin, hair and face turn into peanut brittle from the cold, but so did my feet. My feet were so dry that I had Velcro syndrome.  That's when you rub your feet on your blanket and the dry skin on your heels tears up the sheets!! Come on, many of you know what I mean and have feet torn sheets to prove it!

So with all that being said, I decided to buy this product and give it a shot.  I saw pictures on the internet of people's feet before, during and after and I was really skeptical.  Supposedly the skin on your foot is suppose to peel off and reveal freshly nice and soft feet.  Hmmmm, interesting...so basically I can get feet like a baby after one use?!  Hmmmm...I didn't know about that.  Nonetheless I went online in searched for this product.  I found there website but realized that they don't ship to Canada so I bought it of Amazon.ca.

The Baby Foot product arrived at the house about one week after ordering.  It came written in Japanese! Since I only read English and (barely) Spanish I figured why not..hell what's the worst that can happen?! I burn my feet off, right?!....Yeah no...I google it online to try to find some English instructions. I followed along with the pictures and figured it out (so I hope) in order to test out the product.  The package comes with a pair of plastic booties that are filled with AHA and 17 types of natural extracts that help to exfoliate the skin.  You slip on these booties from anywhere of 1-2 hours and tape it down with special tape that is enclosed in the package.  After that, you wash your feet off and let the magic happen according to the (Japanese that I don't read) instructions.

I first soaked my feet in warm water for 15 minutes prior to using these product.  I pulled the booties out after soaking my feet and left them on for an hour.  The instructions say that you can walk around with the booties on.  Unless your looking to slip, fall and break your neck...don't.  It does states to wear socks over the booties as heat helps to accelerate the process.  With the socks on, I had a bit more mobility, however still...I slipped a few times while walking.  After the hour was up I washed my feet as stated and re-soaked them again for 15 minutes.  I stated this process on Monday.  According to the instructions it can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks to see result.  FYI, I would of posted pictures, however my friends informed me that half the nation has a phobia against feet, so I decided not to scare you and just give you a verbal review!

For the rest of the week I soaked my feet everyday in warm water for 15 minutes while I showered.  I plugged the tub and let the water collect while I showered.  After I was done bathing, I unplugged the tub and let the water drained and then washed my feet off.

By Thursday after my 15 minute shower I started to see some peeling around my feet.  I noticed the skin looked drier then usual and it was peeling at the sides of my foot and the heels.  By Saturday my feet were totally peeling and dead skin cells were flaking off my feet.  I found them in my bed sheets, carpet and shoes.  It was gross I tell you.  In certain parts of my feet, I was able to peel off the skin in the same way a snake sheds its dead skin.

By the follow Thursday my feet were completely peeled.  Since I was soaking my feet everyday, this helped to accelerate the process.  I have to be honest, I haven't felt my feet feel this awesome in years.  My feet literally felt like a baby's foot.  My callouses on my feet fell off, the skin even peeled between my toes and nails.  The rough skin on my heels was totally gone and completely smoothed out.  I ended up having a pedicure a week later and the manicurist told me that my feet were in great shape.  Little did she know how awful they looked a week back.

I would say this, after using this product once I am a true believer.  Its been over a month and my feet are still soft and smooth.  I plan to repeat this process again in 6 months.  However there is one con to this process, this will peel your nail polish right off.  So don't get a pedicure before using Baby Foot.  If you do, your nail polish will literally go to crap!

Keep Smiling!

My Favorite Top Six Eye Shadow Palettes!

Top Six Palettes!
I just love eyeshadow palettes!  I really don't own (expect for two) single eyeshadow pots.  I normally like them to come in a palette as they are easier to travel with, carry and don't take up to much space or need massive depoting.

When I normally buy eyeshadow I look for three things; texture, colors and blendability.  The company who makes it doesn't really matter to me as long as it fulfills my top three requirements.  I have bought eyeshadow before for reputable companies who either had horrible selection in colors, bad texture (crumbled, creased and flaked easily) and did not blend well at all!  So here are my top six picks in eyeshadow palettes!!
NYX Love in Paris "A La Mode" Eyeshadow Palette - $10.00 USA

When I first saw this palette being used by a youtuber I knew I had to have it if I ever wanted to create a brown or black smokey eye effect.  I love this palette (literally) for its smokey eye colors.  It even come with a highlighter for the eyebrows!  These colors blend in so smoothly and are nicely pigmented.  It has little fall out or creaseability and for $10.00 is quite impressive and worth the money!

Urban Decay Naked 3 - $62.00 CDN

People rave about the Naked palettes and for good reason.  All the colors are highly pigmented, smooth and creamy to apply and have great wearability.  I love love the Naked 3 palette.  The colors are very rose tone in color and are great to use for all seasons and day/evening time hours.  They have a good mix of shimmer and matte colors.  I'll be honest, I love some shimmer in shadows so that it stands out a bit.  While I would prefer that my eyes not look like disco balls, nonetheless a little sparkle is always cute to wear in a sophisticate grown up type manner!

When I first saw this palette I fell in love.  The colors on this palette are just phenomenal.  This palette literally looks like a piece of artwork for me and truly makes my eyes look like a master piece after applying.  The colors are beautiful with lovely hues of purples and very light pinks.  I wore this palette for a month straight before I decided to give it a rest before I ended up hitting pan on all shadows!  I would highly recommend this palette as you can wear it any time throughout the day due to it versatility.

Chantiecalle Coral Reefs Palette - $79.00 USA
I saw this palette one day while searching youtube and was in awe of its beauty.  I really wanted to buy it till I saw the price tag! Eh...yea no.  However I did find it online on amazon.com for $40 bucks.  I was so excited to receive it at home!  I love the fact that it has two eyeshadows, a blush and a liner all in one.  It really is a big compact.  However you can use all of them as eyeshadow if you like.  It has a beautiful gold painted reef on the front of each shadow.  Sadly, once you start using the palette the gold reefs does rub off.  Nonetheless these colors are just beautiful and literally feel like butter (I kid you not) when you are using your brush to pick up the color and apply them over your eyes!

E.L.F. Studio Baked California Eyeshadow Palette - $10.00 USA

This was the first palette I ever bought!  I was so taken by the colors and for the price I knew it was right.  While this palette does have a lot of fall out when you are trying to pick up the color, however once applied to your eyes, it looks beautiful and really gives your lids a lovely glow and look to the them.  I especially love the mica color (the dark silver on the lower left hand side) and how great it looks when applied with any of the brown colors!  Worth the buy from E.L.F.

Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Limited Trio - $29.00 CDN

I recently went to the Toronto Premium Outlets in Brampton, ON and came upon a makeup store that was selling this eyeshadow in a kit.  I got a full size mascara with an eyeliner plus this trio eyeshadow for $29 dollars! Sold!!  I have to say I love these shadows.  I have been using them non-stop.  They literally leave such a soft glow on a face especially when using them during the day.  The three colors just work so well and look so beautiful when applied.  Even though its only three colors to play with, but so worth the buy.  I don't know if Smashbox is still selling them, however you can buy this at the outlet mall in Brampton!

Well there you have it, my top six palettes that I reach for often!

Keep Smiling!

Review of The Week: Valentia - Even Glow Serum

Valentia Skincare Vitamin C Serum Even Glow - $35.00 USD

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Recently Valentia Skincare contacted Everything Beauty and Beyond to review their Even Glow Serum.  I have used vitamin C serums in the past, however never one that was so amazingly loaded like this.  I normally ALWAYS read all ingredients and check them to make sure they are safe for the skin.  For example, I would never use a product that contain witch hazel because that will dry out your skin and has no real added proprieties for the face.  However Valentina Skincare had an amazing list of ingredients (listed below) which really blew my socks off.   When it comes to vitamin C serum there a few things I look for.  First, it MUST come in a dark bottle with a droplet.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant which breaks up with air and light.  Therefore vitamin C can never come in cream form because by the time you get it, everything in the cream has expired due to exposure to the elements.  Second, it must have a minimum of 3-10% vitamin C.  Anything lower than that is a joke and not worth your time.  If you want to read more on what to look for in a vitamin C serum then click here for my blog post review from the past.

This Vitamin C serum is amazing for brightening (not whitening) your skin.  Getting rid of dark spots from old acne and scars and helping to avoid free radical cell damage to name a few.   Since Vitamin C is normally a serum and not an oil, therefore it doesn't feel greasy on your face or leave behind a sticky or nasty film.  It glides on smoothly and absorbs quickly.  Normally vitamin C serum comes as a clear liquid so it was surprising to see this one look like orange juice.  It takes about 30-60 days to see major results, however in the first two weeks results were noticeable in the dark spots area where they got lighter.

Now I have normal to combination skin.  After reading many amazon reviews on this product, I realized a lot of people had questions on how this would affect oily and acne prone skin.  So I decided to call up my partner in crime (my sister) and asked her to help review this product on her oily skin as well and let me know what the results were for her.  Since she has oily and acne prone skin, I thought getting a second opinion might be helpful for other reads out there with the same issue who are interested in vitamin C but just not sure if it would work with their skin condition.

Paulette's Experience Below!

Before using the Even Glow Serum I had never heard of Vitamin C serums before so I was interested in trying it out. Valentia's product is 98% natural so if you're really into using natural or mostly natural only products, you should consider looking up Valentia Skincare.

The Even Glow Serum comes in a 1.18 fl. oz. (35ml) dark bottle with a dropper.  The liquid itself is the color of orange juice.  I was almost tempted to drink it for breakfast.  The packaging itself contains a good amount of information.

I used the Even Glow Serum twice per day, first thing in the morning and at night before bed.  I washed my face first before applying the serum both morning and night. I also applied it to my neck. The serum dries and is absorbed into the skin very quickly.  It should be applied first before moisturizer or any other facial products. After the serum dried I then applied my moisturizer with SPF.

I have very oily, porous skin that is prone to breakouts and was weary of trying an oil based product.  I used the product for almost two weeks.  During the day I noticed my skin looked a little shinier after a few hours. I have a few dark blemishes near my jaw line that I was hoping the serum would lighten.  It did lighten the blemishes a little, but not as much as I was hoping it would. My skin does feel a little more refreshed than usual and I plan on continuing to use the product every night before with the hopes that it will lighten my blemishes a little more.  If you're in the market for a Vitamin C serum, I'd recommend giving this one a try.

"Because Valentia's Even Glow Serum is made of natural ingredients, though unlikely, it may start to separate as we refuse to use chemicals to bind together our ingredients. For optimal results, turn over the bottle and shake lightly for 1-2 seconds. Apply a small amount of the serum to your clean (and dry) face and neck daily. Allow the serum to dry before applying moisturizer and makeup. Some customers choose to use their Even Glow Serum in the morning, evening, or both. Monday Madness: The Benefits of Maracuja (Passion Fruit) Oil!

So with the craze of Argan oil being out on the market and being dubbed as "magic liquid gold" Tarte decided to join that bang wagon and bring out their Maracjua oil which is really and also known as Passion Fruit Oil.   At first when I heard of it, I really didn't bat an eyelash as I was already using Josie Maran and Poppy Austin's Argan Oil.  However being the researcher that I am, I decide to look up the product and really see what its all about.   Hell I mean for $55 to almost $90 a bottle this better shine and work like Argan oil in my opinion!

So what is Tarte's Maracuja oil? Well it is actually nothing more then 100% Passion Fruit Oil.  So the bigger question really is, what is Passion Fruit Oil?

Passion Fruit (aka Maracujá oil) is an egg-shaped tropical fruit that is small in size and comes in either a yellowish or purplish color.  When cracked open, inside the fruit are as many as 250-300 small, hard pitted seeds.   The oil comes from these seeds when crushed for extraction.  Passion fruit seed oil is high in vitamin A, C and potassium which helps to keep the skin healthy and glowing.  Passion fruit seed oil also works as an antibacterial for acne prone skin and other facial issues.  It also helps to reduce swelling and irritation of the skin when inflamed by acne and can also help to reduce sebum secretion which for many is overly active especially in the T-zone area.  Passion Fruit Oil contains ascorbic acid, β-carotene, calcium, flavanoids, phosphorus, and potassium which is all good and healthy for the skin.

When buying Passion Fruit Oil for your skincare routine, remember just like Argan Oil, there are a few things you need to consider.

Ingredients

Passion Fruit Oil should only say 100% Organic Passion Fruit (aka Chinola, Passiflora incarnata, Maracujá or Parcha) oil.  It should be cold pressed and unrefined/undiluted.  The color should be yellow and have a light fruity aroma to it.  If it has anything else mixed in to it, then don't buy it.  It is not 100% Passion Fruit Oil and it has been tainted with other chemicals or added fillers that are not needed.   The majority of all Passion Fruit Oil comes from Brazil.  So if you bottle says harvested in Canada..pffts...put it down and walk out.

Packaging

Since Passion Fruit Oil is rich in vitamin A and C; it is considered to be an antioxidant therefore it will breakdown when exposed to air and light.  Its best you buy it in a bottle that's opaque or dark and that comes with a droplet in order to avoid you contaminating the oil with the germs from your hands. When not in use, make sure to store it away in a cool dry place (not your bathroom) to keep it away from light and constant room temperature changes.

Scent

Passion Fruit Oil should have somewhat of a sorta of fruity scent.  It by far should not be overpowering like a Pina Colada scent, but it should have a very mild well...passion fruit scent.  However if it has no scent, then again put the bottle down.  No scent means its been filtered and/or cooked at some point which would render the product useless anyway.

Price

The million dollar question. Just how much does this 100% organic cold press unfiltered oil cost? You be surprised to find out...not much. A one ounce bottle should start on or about $6.00. However the price tag that Tarte is selling it for is just as outrageous as Josie Maran 1oz Argan Oil. This is an oil that you can find at any health food store or order it online.   As long as the product you are getting says the ingredients listed at above, then you should be fine.  Just because you order it online doesn't make it any better or worse then buying it in a store.  What you want to do is also research the company you are buying it from and make sure the product is legit.  Googling it, is what it really comes down to.   I bought a one ounce bottle for $6.00 from Garden of Wisdom online and I am more then happy with the product.  I recommend you look around before you blow unnecessary money for something that can be bought anywhere else in its purest form for a few dollars!

Keep Smiling!

Monday Madness: Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil vs. Poppy Austin Pure Argan Oil

I recently did a review on Argan oil, what it is and why its useful.  Click here to read that review.  Nonetheless, I decided to review two currently products out on the market who offer Argan oil and see how they match up.

I received a large sample size bottle of Josie Maran Argan oil with a purchase of my Clarisonic Aria.  I put it away in a drawer and didn't use it for almost a month.  However one day while googling the net, I decided to check out what Argan oil actually was and if this product was worth adding to my skincare routine.  This oil is also helpful for dry skin, cracked feet, dry hands, dry hair and so on.  It provides many great benefits then just for the face.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil - $29/$58/$125 CDN

I decided to try Josie Maran Argan oil out as my last step in my skincare routine morning and night.  I was amazed on just how awesome it made my skin feel after one use.  It moisturize my skin and didn't clog my pores.  It left behind no oily residue or awful smell.  It got rid of all my dry patches and really made my makeup go on beautiful with no dryness to emphasize.

However, after much googling I realized that while it does provide amazing benefits, it is not the end all and say all of skincare.  Proper skincare involves other products and ingredients in order to help clean, clear and moisturize your face.  While this oil surely does provide great antioxidants to your skin and other great benefits, nonetheless the price tag on this oil for buying pure 100% Argan oil from Josie Maran is off the roof.

While Josie Maran is for sure selling pure Argan oil, nonetheless you can buy the same exact product for less.  Argan oil is Argan oil no matter where you buy it as long as it is the real deal with nothing added.

Poppy Austin sells the same thing, 100% pure Argan oil for almost double the size and a hell of a lot less in price.  This comes in a 2oz size for $26.55 which you can buy off amazon.com and have shipped for $7.00 to Canada.  This texture is light weight and the odor is very faint in a nutty kinda of way.  The bottle is dark with a droplet and has no added fillers in the formula.  It is very silky and smooth and didn't sit on my skin.  It absorbed nicely and didn't clog my pores or cause breakouts.  My skin felt moisturized and amazing after just one use.  I wasn't left looking oily either and underneath my makeup it gave my face a health glow.

Garden of Wisdom Argan Oil - $9.96/$12.05/$31.60

Garden of Wisdom sells 100% Argan oil in three different sizes for a very reasonable price.  The oil is organic, cold pressed and bottled in a dark glass jar.  This oil comes in 1oz (jar and plastic bottle) and 4 oz bottle.  However due the components of the oil, I recommend you get the 1oz in the dark bottle with the droplet in order to protect the antioxidants from light and air.

The truth is, nothing that Josie Maran or Poppy Austin is selling is actually new or different from Garden of Wisdom.  It is the same oil you can get at a health food store or anyone selling Argan oil.  So shop around before you decide to blow money on a product that you can find anywhere else for less.  However for me, Poppy Austin is a winner in regards to the cost, bottling and integrity of the oil.  I find their cost for a 2oz bottle reasonable and hence why I would pick this product over Josie Maran.

Keep Smiling!

Argan Oil! What is it and What's it Really Worth?

Argan  oil lately has been the craze on everyone's lips, skin, hair and nails.  Argan oil can be used for personal care and culinary as well.  You can find this oil in just about any and every type of beauty and haircare product on the market.  However the question is, what exactly is it and why all the fuss?

Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the Argan tree also known as Argania spinosa L. that is mostly found in the country of Morocco.  The majority of all Argan oil is processed by hand by the Berber women of Morocco until the point of oil extraction which is done by a machine for sanitary reasons.  It is highly rich in antioxidants, oleic, linoleic, palmitic, stearic and linolenic.  It has essential fatty acids and vitamin E which are good for dry skin and inflammation.    Based on these proponents of the Argan seed, many companies have jumped on the bandwagon and started selling this oil from a very reasonable price to a straight up outlandish cost.   So here are a few things to consider when buying Argan oil in order to make sure you are getting the proper benefits and your monies worth.

Ingredients

When buying Argan oil, a few things need to be considered before purchasing a bottle of this golden nectar.  First, check the ingredients on the back of the label and make sure it says 100% Argan oil or Argania Spinosa (nut) oil which is organically certified, cold press and filtered.  If the ingredients say anything else but 100% Argan oil; walk away.  Any bottle of Argan that has other ingredients listed means its being added with fillers and is not 100% Argan oil.  Again put the bottle down and walk again...fast.

Packaging

Another thing to consider is the bottle that the Argan oil comes in.  The bottle should be dark and opaque in glass form in order to not allow light to disintegrate the antioxidants.  Antioxidants breakdown when exposed to light and air.  So make sure the bottle is dark and tightly close the cap when not in use.  It should also come with a droplet in order to not allow the bacteria for your hands to transfer into the bottle.  Part of keeping your skin clean and clear is having good hygiene with the skincare products we use.

Scent

Argan oil has a slight nutty smell to it that is very distinct.  When buying a bottle of Argan oil, make sure the smell is there but slightly.  It should not be strong or overpowering but more on the natural side.  Also, any Argan oil that has an orderless scent, means its probably been roasted and filtered so walk away.  Once the proponents of this oil has been heated and changed it is now probably good for cooking and not something you want to apply to your body let alone your face.

Cost

Once you have found a good bottle of Argan oil that fits the descriptions laid out, expect to pay anywhere from $10.00 and up depending on size.   Argan oil isn't cheap meaning don't expect to find a good bottle for a few short pennies, however a 2oz bottle isn't worth $80 dollars either.  Lately a lot of makeup companies and celebrities have been manufacturing Argan oil.  However if the product is 100% Argan oil, organic, cold pressed and filtered; then why the exaggerated prices on many of these bottles?

When buying Argan oil, there are a few places you can consider.  Right now on the market, one of the most famous individuals' selling this product is Josie Maran and Poppy Austin.  However you can also find thesse products in whole food stores and places where organic oils are sold.  Happy Hunting!

Keep Smiling!

Favorite Product of The Week! Whitening Lightning Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss!

Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss Nude - $24.00 USA

Being a youtube lover, I constantly watch video's on makeup and beauty products.  One late night while watching several youtube video's, I realized that just about everyone was using and talking about this lip gloss from Whitening Lightning in the color nude.  This lip gloss caught my eye because if its pretty nude shade.  I decided to order it from Hautelook.com as it was on sale for $14.00 on their website.  It arrived to my house in 2 weeks.  It is a very creamy consistency and not sticky which means it doesn't get caught in your hair and leave race car stripes behind on your face.  It remained on my lips for a few hours and the travel was little.  It didn't have any weird taste or smell and just looked very pretty overall.

Another reason why this lip gloss caught my eye, was not only because of the pretty nude shade, but because it also has a built in light on the top of the wand and a mirror on the other side of the lip gloss.  I found this design so useful when you need to apply your lip gloss on the go and no mirror is around, or when you are in an area that is not properly lit and need better lighting.

This lip gloss retails for $24.00 on their website and come in various different shades.  They are currently on sale at Hautelook for $14.00.  You need to sign up (its free) in order to browse their sales.  However it is so worth it. They are currently also having a sale on Josie Maran products for an awesome discount price.  Feel free to click here on my link and be one of my "friends" on the site!  This sales only last a couple of days so check their site out before its over!

Keep Smiling!

April Favorites!

April Favorites!

So, for the month of April I ended up trying some amazing products that just really blew my mind away.  However its no surprise since it was my birthday this month, I figure I treat myself to all sorts of new, yummy and wonderful things!

No matter if your oily, normal or dry skin, everyone needs a moisturizer.  I have always used creams until I was given a sample of Josie Maran 100% Argan oil.  I used the oil every day for a month and saw how my dry patches on my face just floated away into nothing but pure and smooth moisturized skin.  However the price tag on it was just simply stupid.  A 1.7oz of Josie Maran Argan oil cost $58.00 CDN.  People, just in case for those who don't read the label, all this bottle has is 100% pure Agran oil....nothing more and nothing less.  Based on that I went hunting for something cheaper but that was still organic, cold press with no fillers or anything taken away.  I was delighted when I found Poppy Austin Agran oil.  For a bottle of 2oz the price came out to $26.55.  Shipping cost me $7.00 to Canada and I still saved a crap load of money.  I received a bringer bottle that was still the same thing Josie Maran was selling, only more realistic in price.  I would highly recommend this oil be added to your daily skincare routine.  It didn't clog my pores or make my face grease.  All you need is 2-3 drops of this oil to see the magic.  I mix it in with my daily cream moisturizer during the winter for an extra punch and/or with my face serum.  Its worth trying and for the price, you can't go wrong.

This oil is organic, cold press with no fillers or anything taken away. It doesn't clog your pores or make your face grease. All you need is 2-3 drops of this oil to see the magic. I mix it in with my daily cream moisturizer during the winter for an extra punch and/or with my face serum. Its worth trying and for the price, you can't go wrong. You can buy it off Amazon.com and have it shipped to Canada for $7.00.

Chantecaille The Coral Reefs Palette - $79.00 USA

I bought this eyeshadow palette off Ebay for $40. I really wanted it when I first saw it, however I was not willing to pay almost $80 for an eyeshadow palette. Nonetheless I love this palette. The shadows are so creamy, soft and just blend so easy on the eyes. They have a beautiful gold coral reef painted on each eyeshadow. However that is only temporary as once it rubs off, the gold sheen is gone. The colors are very pretty. The top two colors are eye shadows. The dark brown one is suppose to be used for eyeliner and the pretty dark peach color is blush. However I use them all as eyeshadow! This palette is truly just beautiful to look at!

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder - $29.00 CDN

The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is amazing to apply to your under eye area. It helps to avoid your concealer from creasing and since the powder is finely milled it doesn't settle into the fine lines of your eyes. It's very creamy and distributes nicely underneath your eyes. It doesn't leave behind any glittery look. Instead what I did see was my dark under eye circles almost vanish. After I applied the LM brightening powder I was shock to see how my under eye area no longer look dark and dreary. Instead it looked alive, with color and bright. I would highly recommend this powder be used to set your under eye concealer if you are looking for a more alive and bright look which will help to hide the dark circles that your concealer might not be able to fully do!

Especially Escada Elixir - $58/$77/$104 CDN

When I first smelled this fragrance it automatically took me to a beautiful faraway land where roses laid on every bush in the garden that I walked through (in my mind). With waterfalls made of rose water that compared to simple bliss. This fragrance is very light weigh yet not too florally. It has a crisp scent that does not overpower your sense of smell and the thought of rose gardens are on your mind. It really does remind you of walking in a field of roses. So if you are in the market for a new scent, I highly recommend you try this product.

Color Your Smile Lighted Up Gloss Nude - $24.00 USA

This lip gloss is one of a kind. Not only is the color beautiful, but it also has two amazing functionality. If comes with a very decent mirror on the back of the lip gloss which works amazing to look at while you are applying the product. It also has a set of lights on the lip gloss top itself. When you open up the gloss the lights turn on so that you can see yourself in the mirror as you apply it. Great for using when you are in a dark room! The color of this lip gloss is a beautiful nude. It glides on creamy and has good staying power. These lip glosses come in other lovely colors and worth checking out.

Chanel Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer - $40.00 CDN

This concealer has some of the best staying power and cover up I have every seen. It last all day without streaking or disappearing throughout the day. It glides on creamy and soft and blends in amazingly. It comes in three different colors to work with certain skin tones. The packaging is quite simple and the product is very easy to apply. It comes in a fairly standard size tube with a decent amount of product. I have tried so many concealers in my time and this Chanel long lasting concealer is true to its name and just amazing!

Well there you have it! My April Favorites!
